Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disorder that can affect each person differently. Though MS can go into remission and is not always progressive, a cure for MS is still elusive. Multiple sclerosis causes a variety of physical and neurological symptoms.

At the source of these symptoms is the deterioration of the myelin sheath, the layer of insulation that allows electrical impulses to transmit quickly and efficiently along the nerve cells of the body and brain.

Through this deterioration, multiple sclerosis causes can vary in type and severity.
